Action Steps: 1/14/08

Are you treating your business like a business or like a hobby?  Ask yourself the following questions:

1.  Am I ‘open for business’ every day?

2.  Do I take my business seriously and set aside time to ‘work’ on a regular and consistent basis?

3.  Am I keeping neccessary records and engaging in business activities like I would if I were an employee?

To gain the support and assistance of family members and maximize your efforts, be sure to –

*Express your appreciation for your spouse and childrens’ support by planning special outings, organizing a box of special toys, or some other form of reward for when they are assisting you.

*Make a plan for keeping everyone in the loop and notifying them of what is happening and what expectations you have.

*Determine which services you will take advantage of to  increase your productive hours by using free and inexpensive services such as delivery, babysitting, cleaning services, etc.  If you would like to take advantage of cleaning services but do not feel that your business is generating enough income at this point to do so, make a goal for yourself and determine at what point you will do so.  Then, when you reach your goal, be sure to reward yourself by carrying through and hiring a cleaning service.  This will keep you motivated to work towards that goal, knowing the reward that will come at the end.
